I have never had any problems using this. I actually use it all over my hair and I ... I have never had any problems using this. I actually use it all over my hair and I use my blow dryer too. I have however used this and then laid out in the sun with my hair wet and it works just fine too. I use this around 3 times a week. Works well enough and makes my hair lighter. I have darker blonde hair. If you are a beginner with this product I do recommend that you do a test spot underneath your hair first to see if it is compatible with your hair
