A truly enjoyable evening.
It arrived in Fridays mail, and was in use by the first cup of coffee on Saturday morning. Both circuit boards assembled easily. There was ample room for each component, while maintaining a modest size for the overall project. My only complaint, more of an observation, is the lack of a schematic diagram. This surprised me as most other Velleman kits share more of their designs with the hobbyist. Great care was given to the buzzer. The two leads were bent over, thereby requiring straightening before assembly to its board. The (-) lead went well. However, the longer (+) lead broke off at its bend point. The buzzer was opened and repaired. We were amazed at its volume, and felt reasonably assured to be alerted during an early morning break- in. Moreover, it was a pleasure to find ... Up until now, we have been using an ultrasonic alarm, which at times hurt our cat's delicate hearing. This device works on light waves, which seldom interfere with nature. I spent some time positioning the two boards for optimal performance, and marking the places. The next step is to buy a couple of enclosures from RadioShack. If I were to change anything, it would to redesign the circuits to run off rechargeable lead acid 6 volt sealed batteries. This would greatly increase expected life. All things considered, I had a great deal of fun with this project, and will consider buying more Velleman kits in the very near future. Steve

Poor Quality Device
Just a cheap toy. Very inaccurate, other light sources affect it, too many parts making the boards too large.
