Works as expected, a little bouncy because of no dampening, but will get the job done
I have an old OTC DVM from the 90s that is missing the inductive pickup. It has the RPM functionality and I was curious if a cheap no-name brand one will work. It does work. The only nitpick I have with it is that it's a little "all over the place" i.e. at 1250RPM it will bounce around from 1230 to 1270 RPM, settle at 1250 at times, etc. It seemed to be about 20RPM too high compared to my old Suntune portable tach. However, if you need something cheap and you have DVM with RPM this thing will work and get it dialed in with a bit of patience.
