I want to hear it direct from one of these jungle knives enthusiasts: What exactly is the supposed advantage of a knife like the one in this video over a similarly sized hatchet? You could not comfortably dress game or do detailed whittling with a knife like this, so it basically fills the same niche as a hatchet, except that a hatchet of the same weight would be a far more efficient chopper, inherently sturdier, better balanced for belt carry, and more ergonomic for hewing type jobs.

I just looked this knife up on Ka-bar's website and they really consider it a machete. That is if what you're using in this video is what the Ka-bar website calls the cutlass machete
