@kman20022 This is not a fighting knife just cause ka-bar is a company who makes fighting knives dosent mean that all knives they make are for that purpose. And for your information ka-bar also makes kitchen knives are you going to go to war with a kitchen knife and say that it is a fighting knife? I don't reckon you will!

I gotta a K-bar Kukri machete and liked it so much I threw it behind the back seat of my Toyota Pickup in case I gotta survive a while. That thing gave me the confidence i could fell a younger tree with it. Chopaholic. I thought it a fantastic buy for the money.

WTF is with all these people that demo a fighting knife for chopping wood?
Jim Bowie was a duelist, indian fighter and freedom fighter. His knife was a killing tool.

I like all your videos. I like all your selection and items you have. Its been very helpful. But I do not know why you need a knife to chop down the tree when you have a saw ? (Gerber saw)

Could someone please tell me what the song at the begining of the video is? Thanx

Four rotating chops around the circumference of the trunk with a hatchet would have allowed you to push that tree over with much less energy expended. Splitting wood with a hatchet is also more efficient than batoning.

what do you use to sharpen your knives?

  16. lynyrd01skynyrd13 on July 18th, 2010

I just looked this knife up on Ka-bar's website and they really consider it a machete. That is if what you're using in this video is what the Ka-bar website calls the cutlass machete

he is demostrating blade, not he's power.

  19. pogoeaters124 on July 18th, 2010

why dont you just cut a small then kick the tree down

I want to hear it direct from one of these jungle knives enthusiasts: What exactly is the supposed advantage of a knife like the one in this video over a similarly sized hatchet? You could not comfortably dress game or do detailed whittling with a knife like this, so it basically fills the same niche as a hatchet, except that a hatchet of the same weight would be a far more efficient chopper, inherently sturdier, better balanced for belt carry, and more ergonomic for hewing type jobs.
